Any reviews out there on the new S&W 625 PC snub? Anyone have one.

I don't mind the look of the 625 snub, I just don't like the price too much. Has Smith offered any other 625 snubs (.45 ACP) in the past? Has anyone chopped a 625 to make a snub project gun?

I see Taurus has a 5 shot .45 ACP snub, but I am not a huge fan of Taurus. Any feedback on those?

I love my big 625 so much I want to find a .45 ACP snub to carry.

Our friend and expert Tamara is – as always – dead right. Some years ago, Smith produced an excellent, three-inch, .45 ACP, N Frame, snubbie; I believe it was P&R’ed and a model 25-3 (??). I had an opportunity top buy one some time ago, and I still kick myself for not doing so. S&W also produced some three-inch, model 625s in .45 ACP more recently.

While these should be GREAT carry weapons, I certainly would like to see the same snubbie 25/625 in .45 (long) Colt.

Yeah, 4 or five years ago Smith did a run of 3" N-frame in .41, .44, 10mm, 45 LC and 45ACP. They all had rosewood boot grips and adjustable sights. Should still be able to pick one up NIB for under $600. If you go with the chop, make sure up use a good smith.

RWK,

Here's the 3" .45 Colt.

There were only 200 made in 1998, so they're kinda tricky to find.

only1asterisk,

Unfortunately, they're not boot grips. :( I'm gonna have to replace these with Ahrend's or Eagles.

I haven't fired the Taurus, but have handled a couple of the big bore, light weight snubbys. I am kinda fascinated - - It is much like the old British "Bulldog" pocket revolvers. I like the slick top. They look to be well made, but I'm sure they wouldn't stand up to extensive shooting as well as the S&W.

Best,
Johnny

There's a stainless 25 model of 1989 that's a 45ACP 3 inch...

Almost got one a few months back, drives me nuts I didn't get it as it was in good shape.

Got a 25-3, pretty sure they were a run of collectible 45LCs for the 125th Annivesary of S&W... Haven't seen any other 25-3s that were other than that run of collectibles.

Hey Preacherman

Preacherman thats mine I bought it it will be here tomorrow
I loved my 625 5" so much i bought this one I'll let y'all know how it shooots and by the way I tried a set of Pacmyers on my296 today and couldn'tget the grip screw to work mainspring in the way any suggestions

I have a 625 4" on order, would love a 3", but don't know if it's worth the bucks to chop off an inch. Love the 3" .357 models, figure the 45ACP will be even nicer, since I'm reloading that caliber. They look well balanced in the 3" configuration.

They aren't boot grip either, my bad. Did the PC version with the messed up barrel profile have the boot grips?
If you are for a pair of Eagles, I have one that is gathering dust. Shoot me PM and I'll drop them in the mail.

Airboss, the Pachmayr grip screw is located in such a position that if you have a trigger job done on a S&W, the mainspring's new position interferes with the grip screw. Only solution is to put on another, non-Pachmayr set of grips. I found this out the hard way... :(

David, you have PM.
