Now that I'm Glockless and have a little money in pocket I hit the gun shops today.

Ran into a very good condition S/W 639. Feels great in the hand, shop will take $350 for it. Nice and trim, no expensive hi-caps, owner (known good guy) gaurantees it to function well as it was his personal gun for several years.

Thoughts???

I have a 439, the blued version of the 639, and I love it. Mine is accurate with loads it likes. Trigger pull is a little heavy, but reasonably smooth. Mine has proven to be very reliable with hollowpoints. It is light enough for me to carry all day long with no fatigue. I paid $300 for mine, it was in 98% condition and that was three years ago.

Good Price?

Greeting's All,

BlueDuck my friend, if you like stainless steel S&W autos,
then grab it! Price sounds O.K., but I would make a offer
of $300.00 to start with; cuz you can never tell, he may
take it?

Old folk's say: "Buy as cheap as possible; and sell for
the most you can get"!

$350 is a fair price if it is in good cond. But like Ala Dan says give him an offer .Dickering is half the fun of buying a used gun.:D

Thanks for the input folks, tax refund came in today and I'm off early tomorrow so I thinks it's destiny;)

May I ask for those with experince with the 639 or 39 if it had any preference for heavy versus light bullets?

I've had a 639 for about 20 years and it'll eat both 115 or 147 without burping. On another note, Ala Dan could probably let you know what year yours birthed if you gave him the serial number series.
