Here's a question for S&W revolver experts. I bought a brand new, no lock, 642. It was just delivered to the gun store when I pounced on it. It's never been fired, dropped, or snapped open/closed. I didn't notice it at the time, but there is a slight gap where the crane meets the frame. I checked to make sure everything locks up and it does. There is no cylinder wiggle and timing is spot on. The bore lines up with all five chambers.
Is this gap something to worry about? I've noticed other revolvers with no gap whatsoever. Is this not unusual for a brand new S&W? Does anyone else have new or lightly used revolvers with a gap like mine? Here is a photo.

Thanks for any input!

At least your gap matches up. I've seen some where i looks like a gorilla hit the cylinder with a mallet to force it to close. Just another example of crappy fitting work from S&W.

That's just the way they make them today.

An older S&W would have never made it out the factory door like that, but those were different times for sure.
