Your picture of the 457 is fitting, I carry mine regularly. With the aluminum frame it weighs the same loaded as my brother's Glock 30, albeit with 3 fewer rounds. I use a holster from High Noon (Slide Guard).
Mine is not picky at all about ammo - it shoots anything I have fed it without any problems.
About 10 years ago I emailed S&W about use of +P ammo, and the reply was that occasional use of +P is fine. Since I don't use +P, I never pressed further.
