Over 3 & 1/2 hours from here, an Armslist seller has a very attractive 6906 which was issued but Not carried, just before a TN dept. changed issue guns.

These aren't much heavier than the Sig P6 I often carry, and am only wanting one as * range variety* , but also to have a "first" ex-(US) LEO gun, and stainless slide version.
All of my other 9mm handguns were types issued to German (Sigs plus Walther) and Czech LEOs (CZ PCR).

Hoping the Armslist seller is willing to drive at least approx. one hour for a deal. Awaiting e-mail reply...…..>> his gun is a Beauty<<...was Never even carried-----
**** Nope--he said that he prefers a local sale, though I suggested if he were to drive just 45 min. each way to meet me....oh well.

I’m just curious: What would be your reluctance to use it as a carry gun? My 6906 has been my almost-everyday carry gun the better part of 25 years. Also, what is the selling price? (I’d like to know about how much mine has appreciated since I bought it - also a very lightly-used ex-PD gun - back in the 1990s.)

I have a 6906 from when it was new. I have the extended mags and the bases with them because I use it as a 15 round home defense gun. I also had the spur hammer from the 5900 series put on it so I can use it as a single action if I want. Or I can use the lower capacity mags and carry it. But I use a Sig P365 for that these days. But the 6906 is a great gun. I never plan on selling it.

msmp5: That's a very good question.
I'm sure it would make a fine carry gun. In remarks (# 26) ...my pair of P6, the Sig P225 (it's an '87), Walther P99 AS and my CZ PCR were also mentioned.
Three of them are already carry guns. That seems to be enough, hence the comment about a S&W to be a "range gun".

Quite frankly, I might prefer not to carry a very attractive gun with a shiny stainless slide, if not necessary.

---Miracles can happen. A friend an hour away sold me a really attractive 5906 with a polished sear/trigger and (polished) exterior.
--I don't know how to upload photos, but anybody who "PM's" me a smart phone # can acquire a couple of photos.

This S&W's superb engineering, according to the gun friend/ astute seller, is on par with the best anywhere.

I never had much interest in the full size models, instead greatly preferring the compact Model 469 and it's later version, the Model 6906. very reliable, decent accuracy, and with the later versions a better DA?SA trigger. Still don't care for the slide mounted safety though.
