S&w 66-6 **PICS ADDED**

Posted this on S&W forum but no response so I will try it here,
Looking at a 66-6 product code 162720 it is a Davidson's special with a 3.25" barrel and factory Hi-viz front sight in a shop at $475.00 + tax. Anyone own one or familiar with them? I know has the lock and MIM parts and probably would never be collectable but seems like a good price for LNIB revolver with all the docs. I have committed to buying it so I guess not really looking at it. Your opinions please.

I was somewhat concerned about this purchase as it was sold by a local store but on GB and there were no other bids I knew it was not worth what the earlier 3" guns are worth but thought it was still a good value.

Im not very familiar with that variation of a S&W 66 but it sounds like a nice'un at a great price. Supposedly they were made in 2004.

We gonna need some pictures when you get it. :uhoh:

Picking it up today I will try to get some pics up ASAP. Got to work around the wife as I have not told her about the purchase yet ERRREH! I mean she has not found out yet!!

The Old Fuff is not a fan of current S&W construction, but will admit that they are as functional as they ever were. At $475 in today's market the price is good if not exceptional, and as the value of the U.S. doller is deluted by excessive money printing inflation will increase its value if nothing else does.

If you are looking for a revolver to carry and use I wouldn't worry about the collector's value. It might have some, but only if you keep it in its present unfired condition in-the-box with accessories and paperwork.

Buy it and enjoy. While it's not absolutely necessary a custom holster might be necessary because of the unusual barrel length.

Wondering about your barrel length measurement.
Is that from the muzzle to the front of the cylinder?
If it measured 3.25" from muzzle to frame then its a 4 inch gun.

Wow that's a neat gun. Would be a fantastic setup for a trail/hiking gun.

A friend of mine just bought one. Great gun. His only gripe are the sights, which he's replacing - the front FO seems too big for his taste and the rear is a v-notch, IIRC. Nonetheless, it handles and balances as superbly as the earlier 3" 66s. You got yours at a great price, too.
