I purchased a Smith and Wesson 681 L frame today at a gunshow and have a few questions. The previous owner drilled and tapped 4 holes for a scope mount which was in place when I bought it. I took the mount off when I got home and found one of the bolts was broken off in one of the holes. Two of the holes go through the top strap and the other two don't (one of which has the broken bolt in it). Is it safe to shoot with nothing in the holes...and...can a gunsmith fill the holes somehow. Don't need or want the mount mounted.
