I am trying to find some information on a gun I saw at my local gun shop. The only marking on the slide was "S&W 9mm" The gun is an autoloader, very thin and has a very smooth profile. By smooth profile I mean there are no protruding parts ei. slide lock, manual safety or magizine release. To release the mag you had to sqeeze to places at the bottom of it. The top of the slide was also smooth with minimum rise for sites. The gun looked to be a very good C&C. If anone has any idea where I can find some information on this gun please let me know. The Smith and Wesson site has nothing about it that I can find.

Yeah, sounds like a SW9M.

Based on the Sigma.

You can still see them referenced in the Parts List.

The SW380 & SW9M used to have their own Armorer's Manual handed out along with the Sigma Series Armorer's Manual.

In order to field strip the guns a S&W plastic handled pin punch had to be used to remove the Take Down Rail Pin, after which the Take Down Rail could be removed rearward. The pin punch was then later used as an Assembly Tool to hold the recoil spring stable while being compressed over the barrel as the slide was installed.

We were told during the armorer's class that the SW380/SW9M had been designed to be budget guns which weren't intended (anticipated) to be fired very often. It was estimated that the service life of the guns was maybe 2,500 - 3,000 rounds.

Not one of their better efforts.
