S&W Husqvarna. What is it technically?

Need to order rings for this thing, but I can't figure out what model it is.

Says S&W on it. It is a Husqvarna Model A in 243. What's the model number? I see on the application chart for Warne
S&W 1500, 1600, 1700
and
Husqvarna HVA Small ring, HVA 1600, HVA 1900

I am leaning towards the second one, because isn't the S&W 1500,1600,1700 a Howa?

Sold here as the Husqvarna 8000, I think.
Let's hope they kept the same contours and take the same scope bases as earlier more Mauserish Huskys.
 
Carry on; just as long as you have the right height for clearance and proper cheek weld, you should be fine with those rings. They also afford a fairly secure platform at little weight and a fairly streamlined look, all at a reasonable price. In short, I see nothing wrong with your selection (though I would probably get gloss if available).

I had a High Standard in .270 win with this same action. The bolt was in the white but the rest of the rifle had a lusterous blue finish. The stock was nice but not nearly as nice as your S&W stock. These are some super smooth actions.

Na, I was hoping I could get some see through rings, so I could use the iron sights if my scope fails. Was planning on mounting one of these bad boys on there too.

Just kidding. One of my pet peeves is getting too big a scope, and then having to mount the scope too high to even be able to put your face on the stock.

My plans at the moment are
-Talley light weight rings (if they'll fit and yes gloss if available)
-A Leupold Vx3 2.5-8x36 Gloss with duplex reticle

I think that'll make a delightful little deer blaster. The only problem I foresee is that the rifle is in 100% perfect shape. Can't leave something like that sitting in the safe all the time. Oh well.

I have a set of the S&K sculpted bases on a Sako L461 that look really nice. They're kind of an odd setup, but they do look nice. If the Talleys don't work, I might look into the S&Ks.

Thank gawd you're kidding...that is a brilliant way to destroy the usefulness of an otherwise near-perfect hunting rifle (which is to say most any mauser), though you do actually bring up one good point...you may want to consider QR style bases and rings to make use of those sights. I doubt it is a big concern as you aren't likely to be hunting dangerous game with the rifle or use it for a expensive hunt, but it is something to consider. FWIW the Leupy QR style (not to be confused with the QRW) rings and bases have been holding up well and very repeatable with removal and reassembly on my .375H&H Mauser, and they are available in a nice polished blue finish that matches the rifle and gloss scope well. Speaking of which, I have a VX-3 on that rifle and it has performed admirably also. I don't recommend Leupold often because I consider them a poor value, but they make a fine gloss finished scope, and that is becoming more and more difficult to find these days.

I have acquired three possible rifle-scopes with the intent of mounting one of them to this rifle.
Vortex Viper 2-7x32mm
Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm
Leupold Vx3 2.5-8x36mm

All three scopes are decent and more than adequate for the job. The Vortex seems optically decent, but it is not what I'd call attractive. The Zeiss has the best optics of the three and is decent looking (a darn solid scope). The Leupold is drop dead gorgeous. The finish, the proportions, the gold ring. Even though it gives up a little optically to the Zeiss, it's going on the rifle.

Here's my problem; I can't find a scope/mount combo that's low enough for my liking. The lowest I can get is 0.383" from the top of the receiver to the bottom of rings. The 40mm objective of the Zeiss still has 0.5" to the barrel and the Leupold would have even more clearance. I can sort of keep my face on the stock. If I do it to my liking, I need the scope lower.

It looks like the now discontinued Burris Zee super low rings would be about right.

I went with medium height Burris Zee rings on a similar rifle (but it was a lg. ring Mauser) and it works well for me. That said, I went with a somewhat large objective (2.5-10x42mm Monarch), so I couldn't go much lower. It is pictured below:

Here it is mocked up with a set of Low Zee rings. Bidding on a set of the super lows on ebay. I think the super lows should be about perfect. I would like to have gone with the S&K rings, but they weren't quite low enough for my liking.

Make sure you have plenty of room to cycle the bolt before committing to buy anything especially low. I have mediums on the rifle pictured in post no. 14 and the bolt will barely touch the ocular bell if you "jiggle" the handle a bit (granted those Nikon oculars are pretty darn big).
