I saw an article in guns & ammo magazine that talked about the previews in 2004. It said S&W was coming out with 2 new revolvers. A j-frame in 22 mag, airlite and a 2 1/2 inch 45acp, also airlite. How many rounds do you think will be in the 22 mag? 6, 7 maybe 8? I hope the 45 has fixed sights. Has anyone heard anything else about these guns???

Well the .45acp is out already. Unless there is newer model in the making. The PC model 625-10 is a short barreled .45acp N-frame.

According to the S&W engineer who posts here, the .22 WMR revolver will have the following features:

Chief's Special form factor
7-shot 22WMR cylinder (he did not mention cylinder material)
1-7/8" barrel
all black (finish)
fixed sights

The model designation is 351PD. From the description, it appears to be intended as a concealed-carry revolver.

Be the latest lazer gouged, exotic pot metal .1 7/8 " barreled key locked trinket that it may, I'm still looking for a nice S&W 650!:neener:

Someone around here said that the 45 was going t be a k-frame airlite. Don't know anything about it myself though.

I have a model 51 I found used and pitted. I gave it an action job, bead blasted it and had it redone in satin nickel. You will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers.

This little j-frame sounds interesting. It might make an excellent kit gun, or a ankle gun. Ive been drooling over the 332 .32 magnum j-frame, and this sound sounds like an interesting niche gun too. I look forward to seeing the specs and some range reports.

A .22 WMR with a 1-7/8" barrel?

That's going to be one loud, fireball throwing baby. If it's dark out I imagine the first shot'll likely blind everyone within a half a block. :)

I was fortunate enough to get a special run 650 that came with both a .22 rim and .22 mag. cylinders. 3inch barrel, great little gun in stainless, that fits in your pocket (CCW in AZ). muzzle blast isn't too bad with the mags either.

Tabing: your terrible, temptiing me with an interchangeable cylinder too! Yup it takes(at least ) 3" barrel to get anything except a louder noise out of the 22 mag.;)

SapperLeader...

One of my favorite J-Frames is a model 331 Airlite Ti, .32 H&R Mag. (Mod. 331 is the one with the hammer.) I found some slick, thin walnut grips and I keep it in a Galco "Ankle Glove". I think it weighs 11.9 oz. I put it on in the mornings and take it off at night--no matter what else I carry on my hip. Obviously, I couldn't draw the 331 from my ankle very quickly. It's role is, if I get knocked down in a parking garage, out comes the bad news for the bad guy. And, from a laying on my side position, I can get the 331 out pretty fast.
