i read the link. there arent too many ccw's involved in running gun battles around here at least, maybe where you are its different. Armed robbery and occasional home break ins are the norm. im trying very hard to fathom what scenarios you have in your mind that involve bad guys running for cover and ccw's obtaining cover and then exchanging gun fire. of course both are going to be moving but not to run to cover to engage in a gun battle and not to be running while shooting at someone else. if you do that here you are in serious risk of hitting someone not involved. that 100% statistic states movement but not what type of movement. if someone is attempting to leave im not firing at them.

Just because someone is moving and has their back turned doesn't mean they're leaving. I've seen numerous reports of a subject firing back over their shoulder/turning to shoot as they run. Seen it on several security camera recordings, too. Ditto for perps moving to cover or at least concealment. So long as lead is inbound you've got a good reason to be sending lead outbound.

Perhaps because the 158gr LSWC it is a non-expanding, deep penetrating, .357 diameter bullet with a flat nose sorta like the non-expanding, deep penetrating, .355 diameter bullets with a flat nose that are available in .380 ammunition? It sure isn't because the 158gr LSWC cuts nice round holes in humans like it does in paper. That myth is unfortunately still being repeated as reality. What is the velocity of a 158gr LSWC out of a .38 and .357 J-frame? What is the velocity of a 95gr/100gr LFN out of .380? More importantly do they all have sufficient penetration to completely pass through a human body at near contact range? IIRC they all do.

A hollow point unjacketed lead semi-wadcutter seems to expand pretty well down to 700 fps or so. And it does seem that truncated cones and other bullets with a flat meplat do more damage to tissue. Hard to get a very large meplat in something that has to reliably feed through a small auto.

I've stopped using semis for pocket carry, preferring my 438 for that role. Particularly in pants with a more vertical front pocket opening. When I'm not carrying that, I typically carry a .44 Special. Most of my revolvers have had trigger jobs and I don't feel under gunned. If it all hits the fan, I'll grab one of my HKs.

Apparently Dr. Roberts disagrees with you regarding the reliable expansion of .38 LSWHP. I don't know what .380 ammunition you are buying but mine has a big flat nose a.k.a. very large meplat and it reliably feeds in my G42. If a semiauto needs RN bullets to reliably feed it must be broke or an obsolete design. Anyway my point is not that the LSWHP does not reliably expand. My point is that there is .380 ammunition that has sufficient penetration to cause an effective hit and more holes from .380 hits is better than fewer holes from .38 hits.

I cant imagine anyone, anywhere, standing still, if they thought danger was imminent, and especially if it was under way.

Im not taking "running gun battles" here, Im referring to moving out of the way of the danger and addressing it as you go.

If you think youre going to stand and deliver, and the other guy is going to wait until you do, youre going to be in for a rude shock, when things start to happen. Ask anyone who has been in a gunfight, or has any done force on force drills, if they stood still and waited to be shot, or if those they were trying to shoot did.

What if youre there "when" it hits the fan? Dont you think its best to have the HK along, all along? The guns being discussed here, are BUG's after all.
