Well i just bought my first automatic handgun, a Smith&Wesson M&P45. I have read the manual front to back and fully have a good understanding of the weapon. Hear is the issue with it, i load up the magazine and shoot off one round, two rounds, and then the trigger sticks, it stays locked back until i take my finger and push it from the back of the trigger to reset it back to it's normal position, it also has loaded a live round in the chamber. Pulled the trigger and it does not fire, the trigger pulled several times wont fire the gun. I then drop the magazine and eject the live round. Slap in a magazine and do it again same problem. I dissemble the gun and looked over every visible part in the lower and upper rail system. I have lubricated the seven points of the gun they show in the manual. Now i have many other weapons and have worked in a machine shop for years. I looked over the internals of this weapon and i am not impressed with the trigger system, the parts are stamped out of tin cans. So i am at a place that i don"t even trust the gun at this point, should i send it back tot he factory and get it fixed or send it back permanently and look at other options. I am open for suggestion. Thanks.

I would definatly look to have it fixed.

I have the same gun in .40 S&W and it has been a fine gun. Nary a problem. S&W is a good company, but even a top notch company can put out an occasional lemon.

I just ordered an M&P and have been researching the triggers. There is a spring that connects to the trigger, which serves to return it in place after it has fired. I would check that and make sure it is connected to it's anchor points both front and back. Check youtube for videos on apex trigger jobs; you'll see what I am talking about.

Sounds like something is either disconnected or out of spec. If you can't fix it yourself have your local gunsmith look into it or have it sent back. S&W customer service is great, I'm sure they'll take care of you. Where did you buy it from?

Sorry to hear you got a lemon, my M&P45 has been 100% since day one. If you really like the gun get it fixed and give it a second chance.

Thanks to all, i am going to send it back to Smith&Wesson and have them deal with it.
I looked over the youtube videos and have a greater understanding of the M&P, i see they have a trigger kit for it too. My younger son a Soldier in Afghanistan and his girls father is a gunsmith, I got a call into him for his input. So i will keep this sweetie and get it tuned up... Keep ya posted on the results... Thanks, again..

Out of the box issues aren't confined to S&W believe me. My dealings with S&W customer service has always been expeditious and professional. They also cover shipping both ways so call S&W CS for a call tag if you decide to send it back.

I would definitely look at the Apex trigger/sear gear. Lots of sight options available as well and in addition Crimson Trace laser grips if you are so inclined.

Very true, there's not a gun manufacturer in existence that doesn't put out an occasional lemon. The difference is how well they treat you.

The only lemon I had out of the box was an H&R pardner 12ga pump shotgun. The feed latch was bad and the chamber was really rough. After a few weeks I got it back with a new feed latch, mirror polished chamber and it is a very reliable HD shotgun. I don't regret that buy at all.
