The M&P compact shoots pretty well alongside it's big brother the M&P fullsize, much as a Glock 26 shoots pretty well up along a Glock 19.
I would agree with the previously posted sentiment that if you had difficulty personally concealing a Glock 23, a Glock 19 might not be much better. Although the G-19 is a fine weapon and there are very well-made holsters out there to conceal it with, sometimes too big is too big regardless of carry system for an individual.
If I recall dimensions correctly off the top of my head, the M&Pc has just over half an inch less barrel length than the G-19. I find that half inch to make a difference in CC, not to mention the grip. All things being equal for you, the M&Pc would probably be a better option for your needs.
