S&W M&P15

I don't know who is really making them. However, I'm sure someone knows or it's already been posted somewhere.

I think I would find out the real maker and see if they sell the same weapon cheaper. I think you may be paying a mark-up for S&W to put their name on it.

If they're the same price, then maybe I would go with the Smith.

From what I've read/heard they are gun weapons. Price seems fair for a good AR these days. However, the options really can change the price a lot.

Smith and Wesson is actually producing the rifle, milling the receivers probably from outsource forgings as I do not think they have an aluminum forging capability in house, turning and rifling their own barrels and producing most of the parts.
Some of the small stuff is subcontracted but everybody does that anyway.

I haven't had the opportunity to handle one of these rifles yet.
I hope they aren't attaching the barrels like they do on their 'new and improved' revolvers.:uhoh:

If they are built to the quality of their 1911 pistols, these rifles will be quite good.

Yet another reason I hate what S&W is becoming. The Model 15 is a STEEL REVOLVER. It's the .38 Special Combat Masterpiece based on the M&P K frame. Not some plastic POS AR knockoff. :cuss:

I have heard the exact opposite of what Onmilo said. I heard they were made by Stag Arms. Locally the S&W goes for $840 in my neck of the woods. Personally I would buy the Stag if I could get it cheaper.

I haven't been able to locate any Stag dealers in the Columbus area. AIM sells Stag lowers but am not sure about the completed rifles. Given the price of gas by the time I drove down and back I wouldn't be saving much if they would sell one to a walk-in without FFL.

thats an excellent price for the s&w ar-clone. any time you can get a good AR for under a grand, that isnt a rra or a home-built special, its a good deal.

It's all been downhill since internal lock handguns. I heard from several AR buffs that they are poor in the fit and finish dept.

We got one in at the shop last week.

Fit and finish were poor, like a bottom-line Hesse or Stag. Front sight tower milling was very, very ugly. Sharp edges were everywhere. Front sight tower was slightly canted to the left to a point where I don't think it would zero.

I've been off for a couple days. I hope it's been sent back.
