I have an old S&W 4" barrell revolver I've had for probably 30 years. I don't have a clue what model or year it was made. Does anyone know of a website where this infor would be available using the serial number?

Post the serial number here, just fill in the last 3 digits with xxx's and many of us S&W nuts will give you an idea
If it has a mod number on the yoke include that ie Mod 35-1

Thank you for the help!! All I can find it the following:

On the bottom of the handle it has:C 457xxx
On the barrel it says: 38 s&w special CTG.

Your S&W revolver was made in 1960 per Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, Authors: Jim Supica and Richard Nahas. Swing the cylinder out and check for a model number inside there. Your gun is a Model 10. ;)

I'm curious about the value of this revolver. What would a 1960 Smith and Wesson Model 10 6" barrel be worth in very good + condition?

Randall, I'm not an expert by any means, but I have bought and sold several Mod-10's the past several years; however all were tapered 4" barrels. Anywhere from $175 to 250. Personally, I don't care for a 6" gun, so that would make it of less value to me. Will be interesting to see what others say.
