Good luck. I imagine that a post in the "Classifieds" here, in the S&W Forum and other like kind forums (The Firing Line for example) will provide you a number of potential buyers who would be happy to purchase either gun (or both) for a fair price.

I find it saddening when someone sells their fathers guns especially these fine examples of 50s S&W quality :(

Wow! Reading this thread made me go and check my Smith in the safe.

A quick question.

Regarding barrel length. Is this measured from the cylinder gap to the muzzle?

Dave 5539 if the frame is NOT marked Model 27 then it was made in late 1956 or early 1957.

If the frame IS stamped Model 27 then it was made between 1957 and 1960

If the frame is stamped 27-1 then it was made in 1960 or 1961.

In any event, those 5" models are SWEET!
