I just found a model 36(new,unfired in the box)that one of my lady friends owns.
2" barrel..Blued..round butt..serial #AVF96XX...I'm finding dates on the paperwork in the box of 1987. She says she bought it in the early eighties.(82'-83') Could someone help me with the correct date and an idea of what this gun is worth. Prices are all over the place on the net, and I want to offer her a fair price.

AVF would be a July 1987 gun.

I don't know what a fair price is either in your neck of the woods.

But I bought a 1967 Model 36 NIB two years ago for $250, and figured I stole it.
I put a $400 replacement price on it then.

Offer her $350 and see if you both are still smiling!
She might get more with a newspaper add, but then she has pay for the add, and deal with the riff-raff who wants to come look at it.
A dealer would offer her about $150!

I think these guys are in the ballpark. $350 - $450 would be fair. The $350 would be a little more fair to you and the $450 a little more fair to her.

Thanks Guys...We settled on $375.I'm a very happy camper and she's a happy lady !!
You were dead on "rcmodel",my local gun shop offered me $150 today...It was just a test,I'll never sell it....Ron

I paid $375 for a 1968 model 36 a while back without the box or original grips, so, I'd say you got a good deal. And, I would never sell to a gun shop, either. I have traded with them, but would never sell to them.

Okay Guys...To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question. It's unfired,in the box. I WANT TO PULL THE TRIGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not some rare model. I wouldn't consider not shooting it. Both of you go shoot it. Have some fun.
I love my 36 no dash flat latch. It gets exercised regularly.

The M36 I bought which was made in 1975 cost me only $300 less than 2 years ago. It was fired though, the box of ammo that came with it had 10 fired rounds in it. :D

IMO that gun should go for no more than $350, $325 would be even better...

I got my wife a nickel plated model 36 with a 3 inch barrel about a year ago.

It was used but not very much.

Payed 350.00 for it. Great little revolver.
