I have a S&W model 39-2 with a serial number A578XXX and was just wondering if anyone out there could tell me about how old it might be. I suspect it's older than me (1978) but would like to know for sure. I know there's a book out there with the approx. dates but I'm not a collector, just interested in knowing about how old this particular gun is. Thanks.

The 39-2 was made from 1954 to 1982.

Your serial number dates it to about 1979.

    S&W 39-2 age?

Can anyone help determine the year of manufacture of a S&W 39-2 serial # A238158? It appears to be in great condition. Any insight on what it is worth?

Any S&W buffs out there that can help determine the age of this gun? I failed to mention it is a nickel plated model.

Looks like your S&W model 39-2 with S/N A238158 was manufactuered
between 1974 and 1975; as the serialization ran from A235001-A265000
    for that period.

Excellent! Thank you. Assuming it is in very good to excellent condition, thoughts on how much it is worth?

In the $350-$375 price range, would be my guess~! :scrutiny:
