Hi, I just acquired a "NIB" S&W Model 40 from GunBroker, and the cylinder crane hinge protrudes about 1mm or 2mm past the front of the frame. I know this is abnormal, and I was wondering if there is any way to tell if a cylinder/crane belongs to a certain revolver.
When I look under the cartridge ejector on the cylinder, I see numbers but none that correspond with the revolver's serial number stamped on the frame. Should these numbers match? Could the seller have switched cylinders/cranes on me?
