Yes, those are nice. I used one in bullseye competition for a long time. Financial circumstances a few years ago forced me to sell it, and I still miss it.

I bought one a couple of months ago. Mine was produced ca. 1965. It's an absolute tack driver. I'm working up some loads now, and it seems like a load of Bullseye under a 148gr WC, is just about perfect. I'll probably experiment with some 231 and HP38 powders, but the Bullseye load is going to be tough to beat.

For my older eyes, I added a Tru-Glo red dot sight.

I had one (a 52-2) for a year or two, and it was a marvelous weapon. Mine was almost NIB, when I bought it. I had a SIG P210-6 at the same time, and it was hard to decide which worked better for me.

I do not reload, and the 52-2 was very PICKY about ammo. Finding ammo that would fit the magazine became more trouble than it was worth -- and I wasn't interested in taking up handloading, which seemed the only way to get ammo that was the proper length.

Great gun. Makes me want to look into a S&W 952, one of these days, if I stumble across a good deal.

The model 52 comes in 3 basic variations

S&W 52 - convertable to single/double action - long extractor that is somewhat subject to break and very hard to find replacement - some of the very best work by S&W - will not accept under barrel weight

S&W 52-1 - trigger converted to single action only - same early extractor - will accept under barrel weight

S&W 52-2 improved short extractor (not real easy to find replacements) - personal opinion - stay with SN A450000 and below.
