Hi Guys,

Is that correct that S&W is discontinuing their K frames? If so, I've always wanted a M65 3 inch heavy barrel. I just checked their website and they only have a 3 inch Ladysmith. Do they make a 3 inch without the Ladysmith markings?

Thanks

No S&W does not make a Ladysmith wo/ the markings but several members have use Flitz polishing paste to remove it. Look in the classifieds here and at S&W forum along with Gunsamerica, Gnbroker, and Auctionarms, regular 3" 65's can be found.

S&W hasn't made the model 65 for a number of years so any you find (if you're lucky) are used. There is nothing wrong with a male using a Lady Smith, some who post here do. It will not affect your masculinity.

Keep your eyes peeled and you can find an older model 65 or 13 with the hammer mounted firing pin. This firing pin design allows you to tune the springs a little lighter than you can with the frame mounted firing pin without compromising primer detonation. I found my 65 for $275 and my 13 for $301, both in the past month! They're worth the hunt!

Another option is a Ruger GP-100 with 3" barrel and fixed sights. They're available in blue and stainless and are superb alternatives to the S&W. Just got this one tonight and I am amazed at what a wonderful .357 it is.

Look at it this way.

If you ever have to pull your piece on a BG, instead of saying

"Go ahead, make my day!"

you can say

"Hey, meet my Lady friend."

Sounds a lot better in court.

If I remember correctly, the LS has a factory trigger action job and some other goodies done to it. Its a fine firearm.

Most all round-butt 3" fixed-sight K-frames came with unshrouded ejector rods. The PC13 and the 65LS have shrouded ejector rods like their aidjustable-sighted brethren.
