No, I'm sorry, I don't have a link to photos of gorgeous pistol-packin' mamas.

Actually, I was searching the internet for a guide to Smith and Wesson model numbers and frames, and and I found very little useful info. Either I don't know how to use a search engine (is that round thing on top called a carburator?) or this arcane knowledge is not revealed to the likes of me.

Can anyone furnish such a wealth of knowledge?

Would appreciate it,

there is a book

used by some on the SWforum. I don't have a copy yet but have heard it referred to.

It is called something like "The Standard Catalogue of Smith and Wesson" and was written by guys named Supica and Nahas.

I just searched half.com and found:
http://product.half.ebay.com/Standard-Catalog-of-Smith-Wesson_W0QQtgZinfoQQprZ1942419

The 2001 edition is $54, the 1995 edition is about $27. I have not checked Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc.

Good luck.

27 bucks for a book? I just wanted some info for my upcoming revolver purchase.

I was really hoping for something downloadable or online that would tell me which model was which frame, etc.

Sodbuster, that is a useful link. Thanks.

I suppose I ought to just hit the Barnsy Noble, order a cup of fancy coffee, and peruse one of thier big, glossy gun books.

Why not try the S&W website?
Maybe because they only list current models, and don't always specify the frame used, smart-guy.

Why don't you try searching the terms Smith & Wesson and model numbers and see what you come up with, moron. Like I said in THE FIRST FREAKING POST, I TRIED THAT!

Calling someone a moron for trying to answer the question you posed is not very nice and also not very accurate. Why don't you cool off and read what you posted? If you hadn't tried to be so cute, your message might have conveyed the intended thought. I replied to what you posted.

Good shooting and be safe.

:banghead: Is that cute?

You're right, man, I went back and looked at my first post and realized that it said precisely what I recalled that it said. I then reread your post, and realized that it offered no additional help, and insulted my intelligence. I took care to read post number 7, and failed to see anything cute going on there.

Indebted to you for your vast assistance,

fistful

PS You gotta be pulling my leg.

$27 for a book?

Hmm. You asked for information. I cited a very good source. There are others, and I wish you well.

There is NO NEED to see a resort to calling other members morons!! Or ''smart-guy''. We prefer courtesy and politeness.

Just because someone (supposedly) fails to provide what is asked for for does not condone such. Enough.
