S&W no dash M36? non pinned?

i have been in some trade negotiations with a guy who says he has a 2"
m36 non pinned barrel, no dash, with a three letter prefix serial. does this sound right?

i have a standard catalog but it left me still scratchin my head.

The Model 36 no dash (2 inch barrel, or 3 inch tapered barrel) was produced from 1957 until 1988, when it was replaced by the 36-2. From 1967 the 36-1 (three inch heavy barrel) was produced concurrently until it was replaced by the 36-3 in 1988.

Three letter prefixes were introduced in 1980, becoming standard across most models in 1983.

So it's quite likely the gun is a Model 36 no dash from 1983 to 1988.
