I used to collect S&W revolvers but have quit. Sold a lot of them off and have a few left but that's it. You have a nice collection.

Welcome to the forum! You have quite an ecclectic collection of S&W's there - congratulations. Very nice.

I have 4 S&ws
2 are from the very late 60s
1 from the late 70s and
1 from the early 80s.

Nothing like kenjoe45, but then mine are fun range guns.

I wouldn't shoot kenjoe45's guns.

I have shot a lot of revolvers and own a S&W625-6, S&W325pd, and a Taurus 450. I've shot several Colts as well. I guess I just like the trigger pull of the S&W...both of mine are great. The Taurus isn't bad and I have shot some Pythons which I thought had a pretty good trigger pull...however, I will stick with S&W revolvers.

The older Smiths were worth collecting. Now they're ugly and overpriced. I don't think there was a stainless revolver prettier than the old Model 66. Chromed hammer, chromed trigger, stamped sideplate, nice rear sights and front sights that were part of the barrel. Now the thumb latch has been redesigned, the hammer and trigger made using a metal injection molding process, tapped on front sight, cheapened rear sights and a stainless finish that looks like it's been sandpapered. All this and a few hundred dollars more!

Taurus makes beautiful guns, but their tolerances are too often off. So I go with Ruger. I was at a shop lately and saw a fellow looking at a 686 and a Ruger GP-100, both 4-inchers. The S&W 686 was $250 more than the 686 and the guy looking at them asked why.

I thought it was a great question!
