I'm looking for a mag pouch for my S&W Shield 9mm. I'm looking for a mag pouch that:
  1. Is belt-carried;
  2. Is a double mag pouch;
  3. Is either kydex or leather (something stiffer than nylon);
  4. Carries the mags so that the bullets point to the rear;
  5. Won't break the bank.

This may seem awfully specific, but I'm kind of finicky about my EDC gear. Two extra mags gets me up over ~20 rounds on my person, which I want. The mag pouch for my other semi-auto carry pistol (a G19) carries with the bullets pointed to the rear, and I want to be as consistent as possible across my carry pistols.

Knowledgeable denizens of THR, what recommendations do you have?

Generally, bullets to the rear is considered backward. Most makers produce their pouches designed with bullets facing forward, so this will be the most difficult of your requirements. Have you looked to whoever made your G19 mag pouch. If they already make that design, they should make it for the Shield.

You may be able to just use a standard pouch designed for the opposite hand if you can't find a maker willing to produce a bullets rear pouch.

For kydex, I have quality products from

Dale Fricke (though their double may be a little costly) https://dalefrickeholsters.com/product/magpouch-vertical/

RCS Gear http://raven-concealment-systems1.mybigcommerce.com/magazine-carriers/

Garrett Industries http://www.giholsters.com/product-p/k2s00.htm

You also may want to look at either Blade-Tech or Comp-Tac

and from Comp-Tac
NOTE: These magazine pouches are reversible allowing the customer to carry their magazine with the bullets facing forward or rearward. If you order a Right Side Carry (Left handed Shooter) the retention screw will be toward the rear of the body when carried on the user’s right side.

Well, if I can't find what I'm looking for for the Shield, I may have to find a different G19 mag pouch. (A solution that hadn't occurred to me yet... d'oh!). My mag pouch was made for me by a friend who no longer has access to the supplies to make one for my shield, so that's out.

Another good thought.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Update...

While Blade-Tech is extremely common, I don't have any first hand experience with them. From their site...

These pouches are fully ambidextrous and designed to give a consistent fit with rounds facing both forward or to the rear.

If y'all heard a popping noise, that was me removing my cranium from my rectum. I eventually realized that I could just reverse the belt clip on the mag pouch that I use with my G19 and get bullets facing forward.:oops: #mechanicallyreclined

My gear is once again consistent. All bullets face forward in all mag pouches now!

Well I'm not here to help. I got a dual mag nylon gungear carrier at Walmart and it normally goes in my back pocket since I mostly now carry my shield in tuck situations. Worked fine on my belt and definitely printed far less OWB than the hard dual mag carriers I tried.
