I sold my Sigs (P226 9mm and P239 .40cal, long story, don't ask) and feel downright naked with only my Kel-Tec P32 and my S&W model 36 revolver. I need a high-cap 9mm back in the house for home security (or at least peace of mind) and was considering the Smith or the Taurus. I used to own a Mil Pro 9mm a few years ago when the Pro's first came out. Couldn't find holsters for them and the trigger was horrible but now they have the new Taurus DA/SA trigger that I'm hoping is better.

Anyone shot one or both and have an accurate/reliable opinion on them?

I used to own a SW9VE - not a bad gun, kinda long trigger pull... Not a big fan of DAO firearms... Sold it to get the new SA EMP.

I have the new Taurus PT111, PT140 and PT745 all three in the New SA/DA (not DA/SA) trigger... GREAT Shooter, GREAT Trigger, GREAT PRICE!!!

IMO - You can not go wrong with the New PT series in SA/DA.

IF the gun is for Home Defense and not carry, why not look at Rugers P-Series. The gn is in the same price range as the otehr two mentioned, and IMHO a better weapon.

Planning on selling SW9VE

I currently own a SW9VE I bought about 2 years ago, it has worked flawlessly but I plan to move to a Taurus Mill Pro because 1) they are smaller for CCW 2) the trigger is lighter, making them easy to shoot. That being said, the S&W has served me well but I need to downgrade my collection (of 2 guns) and the Mill Pro seems like a good mix of size and power. I just am not sure if I want the 9mm, .40 or .45. I don't want to hijack your thread so I'll leave that question to another day or look elsewhere on this site. For home defense, the S&W should work great. According to a sales rep (i emailed the company) it takes +P ammo.

I own a MilPro PT145 DAO. Great gun with a great trigger. The SA/DAs are even better.

Have not played much with the S&Ws.
