S&W year of manufacture

N118967 is the serial number on a 28-2 Highway Patrolman a buddy is trying to find out the year of manufacture.

SCSW says 1973.

It is interesting that now the -2 N frames have become the standard "classic" S&W.
I guess the speculators have driven the prices of the 4 and 5 screw models out of sight like they have the Army surplus 1911s.

What are these (this generation 28-2s) worth these days?

My copy reads that 1973 ended with N100000 and and 74/77 ended with serial number N200000m So I'm thinking made in 1974-1977. By serial number count they made 100,000 N frames between those years alone.
