SA Micro Loaded Lightweight Operator

I already own an M1A and a Range Officer, so I'm completely sold on Springfield firearms.

The first time I saw an ad for the SA EMP line I was really interested in something smaller that my wife might be comfortable with. As it turns out, my LGS had a Micro Loaded Lightweight Operator (with the cheesy light) which felt "just right" to me and my wife. I put a deposit on it and I will be picking it up this week.

I don't see much on this forum or others about this gun. Is it because they are so few and far between?
Does anyone have any helpful information on these pistols? Thanks in advance.

I personally feel you might have been better served with with the EMP if you are looking at it as a defensive gun.

This is born of long experience that a .45ACP sized 1911 platform, with a barrel length less than 4.25", will have a smaller window of functionality due to it's reduced slide length and weight affecting the timing of the action because of the faster moving slide. That doesn't mean it won't function, just that it becomes increasingly important to replace springs at the correct intervals to keep it in that window...I just like a little more margin in a defensive gun

We finally got a chance to head out to the range with the Micro Compact .45 and I was pretty impressed. I went into this with some trepidation that the short barrel length might be a liability to accuracy and function.

The first shot was a bull's eye!

I'm no great shot but this pistol shot very well. My wife didn't fare nearly as well on her turns but .45 is much more than she's used to (she has shot .22 and .38 Spl handguns).

It also takes down and cleans pretty easily.

All in all, this one is a keeper!
