A couple of companies make a "grip plug" for Glocks that plugs the hole in the grip at the rear of the magazine.

Is there something similar for the SA XD?

This oughtta do it...

If I'm not mistaken, the hole in the xd grip doesn't extend to the fire control parts like a glock does. Either way, I still don't think the plugs are necessary.

P.S. I did actually search for an xd grip plug so as to avoid being a complete wise guy, I didn't find any xd grip plugs.

"Is there a reason for needing this?"

Other than "cosmetic appearance", I don't know of any.

Maybe the question should be:

Why is the hole there in the first place?:scrutiny:

Does Hubba Bubba come in black (licorice)? ;)

The "hole" is there for a purpose, at least on Glocks.

It allows water and debris to drain / fall out of the action lock-work through the smaller hole in the top of the opening in the grip.

Of course, some would argue it also allows water & debris to fall into the action.

But if those types of guns needed a plug, Gaston Glock would have put one there in the first place. Glock Perfection and all, don't cha know!

I'd leave it open as designed..
