Sad fact about real SHTF

most armies will just do anything they're told... even blow up aspirin factories in the Sudan with cruise missiles, or invade Iraq "to look for WMDs" that they knew full well weren't there

Oh Please!!:barf: :barf: Do any research that you like and you'll find several world leaders (Clinton, Clinton, Albright, Gore, Schumer, Kerry, Edwards, to name a few) on record stating that Iraq had WMDs. And we're supposed to believe that the soldiers knew that there were no WMDs(or that they were smuggled out?)?

If you want to accuse Bush of lying go ahead. You'll have to accuse a bunch of other leaders/politicians on both sides of the aisle and across the ocean too. But your assertion that the First Class Petty Officer, the Sargent, the Captain, or the Airman knew that they were "going to war under false pretenses because there are no WMDs" is laughable if not pity-able.

It's always been a interesting topic to talk about if it ever came down to that. I live on the panhandle of Florida and we have Eglin airforce base and Hurlburt here, I'm friends with a lot of military guys and i've asked them about it. They are kind of uncomfortable talking about it and they never have really given me a straight answer saying it's difficult to know unless they were in that situation. However they did say it's doubtful high rank generals would disobey orders to risk losing their rank as apparently the US military can sentence you to death for disobeying orders or something?

Personally I don't really think military would be used against the US civilians, no one in their right mind would support bombing American land or citys that is just stupid. I can see the UN coming in however in limited role trying to disarm people or perhaps running campaigns to turn in guns, something and perhaps taking action if needbe.

If we were ever in a situation against our military, I don't think it would be the entire united states military against the civilians. I honestly think it'd turn into civil war, perhaps some kind of military coup or rogue units? I don't want to say anything that sounds disrespectful of our military as I respect them a lot. I hope it never comes down to our military or the UN having to disarm us. One thing is for sure though, Iraq is a mess right now and I think an attack on American soil would be a pure bloodbath on both sides.

Any of you who believe that American soldiers would kill, maim, or harm American civilians in any way are absolutely f&%$king nuts!!! We fought for you, we bled for you, and some of us died for you. Do you really think that American soldiers would turn their backs on the freedoms that we have fought so hard to protect? Sure, there are some bad apples in the bunch, but any organization has that problem. The American military as a whole would never turn its back on the people it has sworn to protect. Anybody who thinks otherwise is an absolute fool! We know all too well how precious the freedoms of America are. We lived without them for months, and years in some cases. If anything, we are more American than than those who have never served. We have paid for our rights, and yours for that matter, with blood, sweat and tears. It is ridiculous to think that this nation's military would harm its own people. Absolutely absurd.

Sorry, this thread doesn't reach the level of civil discourse required on THR, too many members calling each other names....
