...in response to my email about a possible SR45;

I am not aware of any plans at this time for any new products / calibers, a SR45 model. I will pass on your request though for consideration. We do appreciate your interest and your input.

I doubt they would reply to an e-mail with confirmantion of developtment of an unannounced product anyway.

I had a similar response from Springfield when I asked if they were going to make a 45 ACP XDm Compact in the future and now they have one. So they may make one yet.

Here's a copy of the e-mail I received on Thursday, January 13, 2011 8:10 AM
Mark,

Thank you for your support of our Springfield products. I am sorry to say that no, the magazines for the XD(M) will not work in the XD or vice versa. In regards to the XD(M) compact, we will see a .40 caliber shipping in February but there is no word on a .45.

Have a great day!

Why is that sad news? They didn't reject it outright.

Pretty much this. What did you expect to get?

"Greetings random internet friend! We were planning on saving this for next year's SHOT Show, but what the heck - it's coming out in August and will be the shiz-nit. Don't tell anybody else please.".

I think they have a good thing going with their P345 and 1911. Not sure why they would want to introduce another 45 into the mix.

Lighter, slimmer, easier to conceal, and such a sweet shooting gun. Nothing wrong with their current .45's... every gun has it's place.

Lighter, slimmer, easier to conceal, striker fired, which the 345 and the SR1911 are not,...... Nothing wrong with their current .45's... every gun has it's place.
Agree with all of the above.
Not sure about the "sweet shooting gun" part, since the SR45 doesn't exist.............yet.

Looks like SR45 is still "in the works" according to Mike Fifer, CEO - http://rugerforum.net/ruger-pistols/33696-ruger-sr45-sr45c-works-according-ruger-ceo-mike-fifer.html

Dear Mr. [Removed],

It's in the works, although it will take some time before it gets released.

Best regards,
Mike Fifer, CEO
I think Ruger is currently hammered producing the very popular SR1911 and I read in a thread somewhere that Ruger increased production capacity/staff to meet the current demand. Which means development work on SR45/45C may be delayed.
