Anyone use them extensively and how do they compare to say, an Eagle or other nylon-style rig?

Check over at assaultweb.net in Gear and Accessories, seems I remember them discussing this holster there awhile back.

The flap issue has always been a problem for me. Seems like any crawling around would tear the pistol up if it wasnt protected by a flap. That and the extra weight flopping around on my leg seems like it would be annoying. Those I 've talked to say that its not really an issue, but I dont see how. Eric is one of the first I've heard admit they pick up crap without the flap. I guess for a tactical team on a police department, it could be ok, but I still think the gun will get beat up getting in and out of vehicles and banging into door jams ect. In a military environment, I personally dont see that its a good idea. I understand the transition thing, but what good is it if you pistol is all beat to hell and packed with crap from banging around in that holster and doesnt work when you need it?

I'm overly picky, but I didn't like the 6004 I had for a couple of reasons...

It was heavy compared to a BlackHawk holster.
It only worked with the flashlight attached.
It wasn't adjustable enough (up and down) for my tastes.
I didn't like the roto-thumb-break

What I did like about it was the rugged material, the suede lining, and the perfect fit to my HK.

In retrospect, I probably should have gotten the 3005...

i have seen dozens of part time SWAT officers in high stress situations reaching for thier waist as a refex, thinking the pistol will be there.
all i can tell you is that IF you carry a rotating hood type holster as a carry or duty rig then the 6004 wont be a problem. i carried a raptor as a duty rig and a 6004 as a tac rig.
DO NOT use a 6004 as a tac rig if your duty rig is a thumbbreak. you will try to "break open" the hood when TSHTF and that could cost you and/or a team member a life.
its a sweet looking rig, but its not worth the risk. i know very few people who can transition from one style of rig to another and stay operationaly sound.
my personal preference is the blackhawk omega.

Not denying any of points above, but I just got a 6004 and I love it.
I don't have a duty rig, nor enough experience to have any opinion - I got the 6004 to take classes with my 1911. The hood is a little strange, but fast if you practice with it.

I don't much like the looks of it, but I like the way it fits my 1911, and I like the mobility and comfort it gives me.

And the holster is tight enough that you could flip the hood forward while still carrying if you wanted - I'm not claiming this is a good idea, just curious whether people do this in the field.
