I've been using a Lyman 55 tool to dump black powder despite numerous warnings that the plastic hopper can develop a static charge and set off the bomb. "Safe" measures made by Belding & Mull and by Lyman have been discontinued for years. Is there an alternative available today?

I like to do it the old fashioned way. I use a scoop. I make them from old brass casings and copper electrical wire. For large charges I make a smaller scoop that will require 2 or 3 scoops to get where I want. Put a lable on handle as to the load info and caliber. You can file the brass to calibrate or use epoxy to fill to take up space and a twist drill by hand to fine tune. I have several, one for each load. They even work well with a funnel and drop tube.

ETA Balistic products has a metal shot measure that is adjustable you could probably use.

Went to track of the wolf and found they use a Lyman 55 for black powder measuring as well as the Lee PPM. Look on their site.

I use the Lee dippers and a brass pan on the scale. Just bought a Hornady black powder measure from greyling22. Haven’t finished cleaning it up yet but it looks like it will be good to learn how to use it.
