i dont mean to insult anyones intelligence by bringing this up but it was driven home to me today just how important some things are.
a little background. my neighbor has 4 daughters between 4 and 14 years old. we arent close with the neighbors just wave when we see them once in a while chat at the mailbox you know.
anyway weve had great weather today and were out with our 5 year old daughter letting her ride her bike up and down the driveway and 2 of the neighbors daughters came over to play madison is 11 and she brought her little sister. while the younger girls were riding my girlfriend was talking to madison who was complaining of a headache and that her scar hurt. come to find out last august one of the older girls had picked up her dads "7.62" and not knowing it was loaded somehow managed to shoot madison in the neck just missing the spine...thats a nasty scar and a very lucky girl.

got me thinking just how important it is to keep loaded weapons where kids cant get them and to teach kids to always treat every gun as if its loaded.

since somebody will probably ask the only 7.62 i know of that he owns is his m44

+1 on the need for proper access control and education.

A 7.62x54R through the neck and still alive? That IS one VERY lucky little girl. Even missing the spine there are lots of MAJOR blood vessels and nerves in there.
