I just got back my Saiga 12g shotgun, improved by Tony Rumore (Tromix) and I had to post a few pics. I may replace the vertical grip with a light. haven't decided yet.

What's the capacity on those mags?

Have you had the bolt hold-open catch machined, so the bolt stays open after you empty the magazine?

They look like five rounders.

If you space out five rounds, it looks as though there's just enough room for the collapsed spring and the follower.

The eight round mages are HUGE...

That Saiga is causing drool/envy issues. I have to sign off this thread now... :D

Virgil,

Those are 5 round mags.

There is currently no way to do an automatic BHO on a Saiga.

That is one nice shotgun. Tony does the best AK work that there is. I've got about 10 Tromix guns in stock right now, and I would put them head to head against any other AK there is, from any manufacturer.

5rd Mags & Manual bolt hold open. 8rd mags are simply too expensive right now, and I don't expect the price to drop. Oh well.

Supposedly 2 different guys were bringing 10 rders to market (one plastic, one metal) but they were supposedly to start shipping like 5 months ago. So far nothing. :(

Man, after only seeing pictures of the tiny beasts Tony's been making, that Saiga looks about 10 feet long! ;)

The ten rounders (plastic version) were initially expected in late Feb/March. So they aren't that behind schedule.

I'm in the USPSA Frontsight magazine this month, in the SHOT show section. That is me holding a Saiga. It mentions that I'll be carrying the 10 rounders, and my phone has been ringing off the hook ever since. I've got a ton of those on order, and they are going to revolutionize competition shotgunning. I'm expecting every single open class shotgun in 3gun to be a Saiga within three years.

Absolutely wicked.

What is the weight like on his AKs after he does the G3 sight conversion, removing some of the front trunion (I'm guessing...)?

Anyone have decent amount of time behind one of his to say whether frequent removal of the dust cover has changed the zero of the rifle much?

Thin Black Line, I have no idea how effective the break is. To be honest, that was the one part I wanted only because of it's looks.

SpookyPistolero, The modified Saiga weighs a touch more than a standard 19" Saiga-12. Less than a pound difference.

FBMG is Tony's biggest customer, and we use him for all of our custom AK work. I usually have some of his converted shotguns in stock.

The base shotguns are $405. Tony's work is an extra $350-$450 depending on what you want done. Total cost puts it in the same range as most good semi-auto defensive or comp guns.

I have been kicking myself for not buying 10 of them back when they were 190 each.

<- retard

The saiga is an awesome shotgun, and tony is an awesome gunsmith. He never got back to me about making an AOW 8 inch saiga, but I guess he is busy. I can't wait to get my tromix AK back from soundtech. I also cant wait to get the 10 rders. That will rule.

The AOW project is idle at the moment. I have an S-12 receiver pounded into a flat awaiting laser cutting copies, but I have so many customer guns in the shop, they take a priority over R&D.
