Hey guys
after my interarms ak47 (and review), im lookin to get a saiga IZ132 from atlantic and convert it. i was orignally gonna build my own ak but figured i dont have enough time, and if i were to make time the girlfriend would not appreciate it. so i figured im gonna use maybe 30-45 mins every day or two to convert a saiga, but, i have a few questions

the whole process sounds fine and dandy, i am aware of 922r, but some things are bothering me

1. Is there anyway at all that a converted saiga will take standard ak mags without any modification to the mag? id rather not have to grind down every mag i have in a SHTF situation

2. is the bullet button a major drawback?

3. is a converted saiga worth the time, is it a quality ak clone?

if anyone can give me some info on those questions itd be nice

also... random question, but do VEPR rifles work with standard ak internals... for instance a G2 control group would work in a vepr?

I'm not sure where you've been reading, but modifying the mags is the last thing you want to do.

A simple modification to the mag catch may be required, and the addition of a bullet guide is all that will need doing.

Bullet buttons suck. Thank you California.

It's not a clone at all.

It's an actual Russian-made Kalashnikov under that Klinton Klown suit. That's what a conversion does - gets rid of the Klinton krap and brings it back toward the design Mikhail brought us.

apologies nalioth! Im a PA freestate resident so I meant bullet guide! do arsenal inc rifles have them..?

The whole conversion process is dirt simple if you have a dremel tool, drill and a tap tool/handle for the 8-32 or whatever size tap for the bullet guide screw hole. Mine took like 2 hours taking my time.

Buy the bullet guide from dinzagarms.com and he usually includes hole plugs to plug the original trigger pin holes after moving the fire control group forward.

Very very easy process if you're handy at all.

To your points:

They're not the deal they once were at $200 for a stock Saiga, but still one of the better buys around IMO.
