OK, before I spend my holiday cash on the Savage I've been posting about I want to help my brother who doesn't have the cash build a Saiga rifle. I found a Saiga IZ 340 on Atlantic's site and it looks prime for a build (never done one before....) Has anyone done a build with this rifle or have an experience with them? Im new to the conversion process.

its essentially the same as the other rifles except it has the handguard conversion already done, and i think theres a threaded barrel with a muzzle nut on it but im not positive. So by buying this you can get a full conversion with only doing the basic conversion(since some works done for you already)

Im not sure how much the handguard retainers and gas tube assemblies are but you probably wont be doing yourself any favors by doing the handguard conversion yourself

Anybody know if that furniture is available for the 5.56?
I don't think so.
So the 340 is basically a half converted saiga. Maybe this would be good for my first conversion!
Thanks for the help.

I believe that it’s just a tac weld. Easy enough to remove that....

Muzzle ring is not attached. These are sweet and I will have one soon!

check out Carolina Shooters Supply... check out the video section they go step by step how to convert a Saiga... I did 2 a 12 guage and .308... neither was that difficult with basic tools and a dremel...
