Well this is where we are at we have 2 Saigas .308 and 223 now the 223 brass on the second reload is comming apart at the ding crease I know its NOT headspace had it checked. On both rifles the cases are hitting the dust cover with the 223 i can only reuse about 10% and its not as bad on the 308 but its not good.
Some ideas im thinking about will an AK dust cover fit? and if so maybe welding a deflector on. Or maybe alter the ejector its as though the dust cover is made to wack the brass loose from the bolt as it slides back.
I know dingged cases are a way of life with a AK so any thoughts would be good.
Foot note
LOVE the saiga it shoots and shoots and shoots Its not uncommon for my boy and his buddys to put 1000 rounds through each in a day and still 1'' groups @ 100 yds
Now you understand why I want undinged cases

See if you can find some car door trim made by Bell. A length of it on the dust cover will protect your brass. Also, know that the charging handle can ding you brass; you can solve that by putting several coats of liquid rubber on it. These two steps have allowed me to bring home brass I'd have otherwise left at the range.

According to my reading at the Saiga forums, this is what the experts do. A lot easier than welding....
