Hello,
I'm new to this site. I had a Sako finnlite 300WSM blow-up on me on 13 Oct. The pictures of mine and two others as well, as the story behind them can be read on Accuratereloading.com in the gunsmithing fourm under Sako blow-up.
I would be happy to entertain any and all questions regaurding this unfortunate accident. And would love to hear about any others that have blown up. It seems that the Canadians have had more accidents than we here in the US. I live in Washington State. I'm NOT a Lawyer. I'm a Firefighter just trying to get the word out. I would be happy to post the pictures here for you all to see but I dont know how, Sorry.
Be Safe,
Mark E. Almeida

Welcome to THR Fire Capt. There have actually been a few threads on here in "rifle country" abut Sakos and Tikkas blowing up. If I remember correctly, they're saying it was due to a bad batch of stainless barrels. Was your gun stainless?

Sako...

get in touch w/Beretta USA, they had a recall on all NON-ka-booms, obviously you, & whom you got the rifle from, didn't get the word(a store may have just dis-regarded it), i think you need to speak to them. call customer svc. in Accokeek, Md. phone calls are cheap.

There are two threads in the rifle section [they should be combined] and you should repeat this post there.....Nico all six Kabooms are either Sako or Tikka stainless steel rifles apparently due to a bad batch of rifle barrels......Brian the www.accuratereloading.com thread is the most comprehensive on the subject ,read the whole thread to get the complete story. We are trying to get the word out since Sako/Tikka/Beretta are not .

Here's a direct link to the AccurateReloading.com thread. Scary stuff.

Mark, after reading about what happened, I am thankful you survived and pray you are healed.

Best,
Larry

Wow, that's about the scariest thing I can imagine for a shooter. Note the way the reciever on this one split cleanly in two. If you have a Sako I think you should find out if it is a bomb before you fire it.

Also Larryw has a direct link to the thread. "THANKS LARRY"
Thanks,

Mods,

With all the different threads about this topic floating around on all the different boards, any chance we can get this one pinned to the top? It seems like there are a lot of Tikka T3 shooters on the High Road and a lot of people who recommend the T3 (myself included) who shold probably know about this one. Thanks!

Personally, I think you need a good lawyer. This is obviously a defective product. I doun't know why people would fault someone for taking legal action over something like this. This person or someone else could have been easily killed or maimed with this gun.

Its not like this was a heavy trigger pull, bad extractor or other fairly minor factory defect. This is the type of serious defect that should have never reached the public. Glad to hear there is a recall, but these guns should have never gotten to the public in the first place.
