I've herad that 300 wm are hard kickers. In a hunting rifle I am sure. What about on a well structured TRG-42 with flash hider and 28" barrel???
tks.

"Hard" is a relative term. Many people think that the .300 mag class is where hard begins. My Rem 700 synthetic in .300 Win Mag gets your attention, but isn't what I consider hard. I have a .30-06 in a different action, with a different stock, that feels like it kicks about as hard as or harder than the .300, even though the '06 is firing the same bullets nearly 500 fps slower, according to the chronograph. In short, asking someone else how something "feels" probably won't get you the information you want. :)

In a rifle as you describe, I don't find recoil to be a problem, but some folks might. You have to keep in mind that you will most likely be shooting almost exclusively from the prone position or bench, which serves to accentuate recoil, but with that heavy of a platform (should clock in at 15+ lbs with optics) it shouldn't be a big issue. Even still, it is best to try before you buy.

:)

The TRG 42 in .300 WM has very manageable recoil. However I dont quite think it is an appropriat rifle for hunting. It does weigh in at about 17 lbs with scope, and a little more with bipod. It is also a little unwieldly to shoot off hand. Finally it does cost an arm and a leg. For the price you could get an AI which currently is better made.

Afy, I don't believe that he was intent on using it for hunting, only comparing it to lightweight .300WMs built for that purpose. Also, the AI is priced significantly higher here in the US (the TRG 42 runs about $3k whilst the AI AWM is nearly double that), though I agree that the AI (as well as the Desert Tactical Arms SRS) is a better overall platform.
