Hey everyone,

I know that this has been discussed before but the posts are a couple years old and since there seem to be less of these on the market i've noticed that they are selling for more.

I'm trying to figure out what I can expect to sell my Star Model BM for, or what to get out of it for a trade in at a retail store. The gun has some holster wear, but it is a great shooter, and has one of the lightest trigger pulls i've ever seen. I love it to death but i need to sell it in order to afford a weapon to train with in the Police Academy.

I have seen these being sold for around $300 but I feel as if that number is a little high.

What I'm trying to figure out is how much I could expect to sell if for at a gun show to a vendor, to a private individual who will be shooting it, or in a trade at a retail store.

Any input is helpful!

Back about 4 or 5 years ago, there was a seller at our local gun show selling BM's from a crate for $150 each. Nowadays, $250 to $300 seems about right. A gun shop might give you $100 to $150 for it, because they'll try to turnaround and sell it for at least twice as much.

Like the above poster stated, I'm seeing them in my area listed for $250 to $300. So a person might be able to walk away with one for $200 for $250.

I've always wondered what it would be like to have one as a "knock around" gun, but my experience is that most sellers don't know if their model is a 9mm Largo chambering or 9mm Luger. And I've ran into a lot people saying it's safe to shoot the 9mm Luger ammo out of the ones chambered for 9mm Largo, which I've read is not safe. Enough misinformation to keep me away from them, but a lot of people say they're pretty good little guns.

My BM and Firestar M45 have some of the nicest triggers of all my guns. They are all steel and built like tanks. They make great range guns- the only problems are extra original mags are scarce and expensive and the same goes for spare parts.

Thanks everyone!

I was thinking that $250 would be fair. I guess I'll just have to wait and see, I know it wouldn't be much but does anyone think I could get a worthwhile amount out of it trading it for a used Glock at a retail store?

Also my Star is 9mm Luger. She says 9mm para right on the side, and comes with 3 mags (two are factory and one isn't)

You might get $100 out of the gun on trade. I'd list it on some forum classifieds and see if you get any interest first.

If you are thinking trade, I'd just keep it and save up another hundred...

The BM-despite it's designation-is a really great carry pistol, and built like a truck.

FWIW, If one were to remove the left grip from an unloaded BM pistol, there is a diagonal steel strip that can be pried out, and the part completely removed. This is the mag safety, which many people don't like. When it is removed, the trigger becomes about 50% smoother and lighter. Just for science's sake - I am sure no one would want to remove a safety from a pistol...
