Yes, that's right. There's gun owners around SF. Who woulda thunk it?

For those in the area, I'm on the Peninsula in the Burlingame/San Mateo area. The two closest ranges are Coyote Point (.22 pistol, any caliber rifle, MWF 7pm-10pm, $10, 100 yards) and Jackson Arms (Pistol/buckshot only. No .454 Causull, no .30 carbine, no 500 S&W, no .50 AE, about $6, indoors, 16 yards).

Although my schedule is occasionally busy in the evenings, I'm available nearly all the time for some fun at the range.

Let me know if you're interested in shooting, and we'll work out a mutually-agreeable time.

I'm coming back from college for the summer around mid to late June, and I'd love to go on a shoot.

I was born and raised on the Peninsula, and I will be at my parents' house there until late September. Isn't the UC schedule great?

Oh, I agree. Chabot is a really nice range. I love the place.

Alas, for a non-member it's moderately expensive. That, plus the ~45min drive, $3 bridge toll, etc. adds up. It is nice to go shooting during the day on weekends, rather than at night on MWF.

I'm signing up to be a member/RSO at Coyote Point. Only right before deer season do people show up in droves. The rest of the time, there's usually ~2-5 people on the .22 side and the same number on high-power. It's a good range, but the county isn't terribly gun-friendly, so they need more volunteers.

Oh, did I mention it's about 5 minutes from my house and RSOs shoot for free? :)

How about San Leandro Rifle and Pistol range. It's a little primitive, but it's $10 per lane per day, not per hour. There are no membership fees and it's relatively uncrowded. I was there yesterday and at the busiest there were 5 guys there.

Disclaimer: It is about 10 minutes from my house.

I've never been to San Leandro...the range, not the city. Any pictures, by chance?

I'd like to find a range that will let me do rapid-fire, standing rifle/shotgun/pistol drills. Sure, one-shot-per-second is nice, as is shooting from a bench...but after my time in the army kicking down doors and whatnot, I'd really like to keep those skills honed.

Running around my backyard with the SKS (occasionally with the bayonet extended, when practicing bayonet drills) would likely alarm the neighbors if they looked over the fence. I've done it a few times, but it's not the same.

I might be taking some CSM courses over the summer, could I be a honorary member of CSMRC? I go to college in LA.

Anyways, I'm planning to go out to Los Altos Rod and Gun Club after I get back from school with some friends - kinda a "Yay summer school's out weather's nice let's go put holes in paper/water jugs" shoot.

Also, assuming you live in the hilly part of Burlingame, just put a high fence (make it a ivy fence if you have to) on the uphill side, and a standard fence on the other side. Personal experience - you can't see jack looking up the hill, but you can see everything looking down, especially in Burlingame Hills.

Sure. We already have an honorary member at UC Berkeley, though she's graduating this year and moving to Arizona. She'll be holding onto a few guns of mine that I hope to buy there that aren't allowed here in the PRK. We'll see.

Honorary members are always welcome.

Really? I've never actually shot water jugs -- the ranges around here aren't too keen on it, and there's no real unincorporated land immediately around here that I can shoot at. :/

I may have to join you, but I'll be gimping around on crutches this summer after getting my foot operated on. I refused to touch the guns with even a teensy bit of painkillers in me that are stronger than Motrin. Maybe later in the summer you'd be willing to meet up?

I'm not precisely in Burlingame. I prefer not to reveal my address on a public forum -- you don't know who's reading, you know? If you're interested in stopping by sometime, talking shop, drinking some soda (no beer and guns, of course), etc. drop me a private message.

Cheers!
