I just got my first AK-style rifle, a 2002 Century SAR-1. It actually looks pretty nice (as AKs go), but I think the blasted US trigger group was installed wrong.

After taking it down and cleaning it, I tried dry firing to check function. That's when I noticed the trigger is frozen. It won't budge, and looks to me like it's in the far rear position. I was going to disassemble the trigger group and try fixing it myself, but I'm having trouble and can't find any info on the process.

Does anyone know of online instructions for completely disassembling the group?

I had a similar problem with my SAR-3. When I first went to fire it, trigger would not trip.

Turned out the trigger opening in the receiver was cut about a mil too small in the front, and the trigger hung up on the receiver. Could not complete its stroke. Typical Century "quality". 10 mins with a file fixed it.

Check to see that your trigger is able to complete its stroke. Specifically check the front of the trigger opening.

It seems to work fine now. I found the problem pretty quickly by comparing the internals with the close-up photos on that website. When they installed the FCG, they ran the hammer spring under the rear part of the trigger instead of doing it over the top. So the trigger was being held back rather than forward. Because of that I couldn't remove the safety to get the group out. A couple minutes with a pair of needle-nose got the spring back where it belongs. :)

Thanks again.
