I just bought the Hancer. I tried the magazine from a CZ75B while still at the Academy store and it fitted fine, but does stick out the bottom. I didn't try it on the Kama, which has 15+1 mag instead of Hancer's 13+1, so I would guess the CZ magazine would not stick out as much, if at all.

As I recall, the Kama does not have a shortened grip so the magazine should not protrude. The Kama sold by Academy has the shorter barrel and slide. Sarsilmaz also lists a Kama Long with regular barrel and slide and is readily distinguishable by having four holes in the slide.

I was looking at one of those yesterday. Our local Academy had them on sale for $289. We tried a ProMag CZ75 mag in it and it wouldn't lock in place.
I didn't get it, but I've been thinking about going back. It seems like alot of gun for under $300.
You say you love it, give us details. Is it accurate, not ammo picky, reliable? The one they are selling is exactly like the one in your pic.

shot it again today and it a shooter for sure. I'm a decent shot not great and held about a 2-2.5 group at about 20ft. The Craftsmanship is great and really suprising considering the price but then again Turkey has been making pretty good guns for some time. Feels suprisingly good in my hands, has some good weight not heavy but good recoil wieght.

mine is not exactly like the one in the picture the ones academy is selling is more simple no adjustable rear sight the stamping of the names is located on the other side because Academy Ltd Katy, Tx is stamped in the right side and the trigger guard is round with no tang likt the one pictured but it still my new fave gun!!!

I started out liking the Kama better than the Hancer. The slide "ports", even though non-functionally, makes for a very distinctive appearance. The ejection opening is much larger, and the slightly longer grip holds 15 instead of Hancer's 13. Academy originally priced the Kama higher at $429. Hancer stickered at $399.

But the Hancer just felt better and points more naturally in my hands. Then again, I might still pick up the Kama before Academy runs out of them, and put a different set of grips on it.

The Promag CZ75 15rd mag I saw at Academy only has the magazine release catch on one side. Both the genuine CZ75 and Sarsilmaz mags have them on both sides.

ahhh interesting tidbit about the mag volfy no wonder it didn't work at academy because i tried to see if the promag would fit but did not notice te mag catches. thanks

Thanks for the heads up. After reading this I thought I may as well get around and head to Academy. Got the last one for for $278.88. Mine's the Hancer 2000. Feels great in my hand, hope it shoots as good as it feels.
People keep us up to date on all the accessories.

I bought both the Hancer 2000 and the Kama. I too tried the promag cz75 magazine and it didn't work. Oh well. I have not shot either of them as I just got them today. The Hancer was on display since 1/08 I think the sticker said. Maybe by now it's "broke in".....LOL

I had to get both too. Steel guns are becoming a rarity, so I couldn't pass up a bargain like this on another fine specimen.

I swapped on the Hogue wraparound grip as soon as I got the Kama. WOW! What a difference. The Hogue grips made it slender, which combined with the rubber texture and the ribbed front, makes for a very secure hold. It now points very naturally for me - I would say even better than the Hancer, which comes from the factory with rubber grip panels. Don't know why Sarsilmaz would put cheap plastic grips on supposedly the better model (higher MSRP anyway) of the two.

I would strongly recommend trying the Hogue grip on your Kama. I am going to get another one to put on the Hancer. It would require some trimming/modfication to fit the shorter grip, but I think it would be well worth it.

Which model of Houge did you put on it? Have you found any magazines to fit the Kama yet? I have found a couple of the Hancer, but no luck on the other one.

How do they shoot for you?

It's Hogue model# 75000. AFAIK, Hogue only makes one wraparound rubber grip for the CZ family of pistols (including all clones). The rest are all separate panels of various exotic woods.

I don't think anybody makes a similar grip for the CZ Compact. I just picked up another Hogue #75000 at the local gun shop for $20 and will fit it on the Hancer tonight. As nice as the factory rubber grip panels are on the Hancer, I just really love how the Hogue feels.

Just about any CZ mag will fit the Hancer. I have tried factory CZ , Mec-Gar and even an el cheapo National Magazine. The Kama is a different story. It's magazine well is just a tad longer than the "real" CZ full-size, and so are the Kama factory mags. CZ75 full-size mags can be made to fit inside the Kama by filing the top of the magazine release hole open a bit more - just enough for the magazing catch lever to lock in. Problem is, though, that mag will now fit the "real" CZ a bit loose. If you don't ever intend on reselling the mag, that's probably not a big deal.

Alternatively, you can get the extended 20rd or 30rd CZ mags, which will most likely require no modification, since they are going to be way longer than the Kama magazine well. I am going to order a 20rd to try. The 30rd is bit too much for me.

Curiously, the el cheapo National Magazine CZ75/85 mag (last one on right)actually fits the Kama just fine. The quality & finish though leaves a lot to be desired. The mag surface is very rough - not the smooth mirror-like finish on most mags (even Pro-Mag ones). I bought one for $10 from Cabela's just for giggles. I think I could make it better by polishing it up nice and then reblue it, but it's a lot of work just a save a few bucks.

As far as reliability is concerned, other than an initial hiccup with my Hancer, which can be blamed on my taking it out-of-box straight to the range, I've had no problem with either pistol for about 300rd combined so far. And that's with mostly Academy's store brand ammo. I actually shot my CHL qualification with the Kama last Weekend. Out of a class of about 35 students, probably 75% had some type of malfunction (jams, FTF, etc.). There were Springfields, Glocks, Berettas, Sigs, Kel-tec, etc. My Sarsilmaz and another guy's Daewoo were among the few that didn't have any problems. The instructor said it was the absolutely most gun malfunction he had ever seen over the years teaching CHL. Most of us blamed it on the cold temp - 20~30F outside is as cold as Houston gets. This particular range didn't have heat, and we all had to wear out jackets shootin'.

I am not the best person to judge accuracy. Up till a few weeks ago, I haven't shot in many years, and I've never been much of a marksman anyhow. Suffice to say the Sarsilmazs shoots better than I can. With the Kama, I got a 246 out of 250 for the CHL qualification score.

You have done your homework on the magazines. Thank you for the information.

Just modified a Mec-Gar 16rd mag to fit the Kama. Only had to enlarge the release hole about 1/16" up. I will report on how it works and post pics once I get a chance to shoot with it.

I found out that Mec-Gar makes a nice 17rd mag and a 19rd too: http://www.mec-gar.com/product.html If the 16rd mag works out good, I think I will order a couple of the 17rd. 19rd is a bit much and probably will stick out too long.
