Saturday was a great day here. My BIL and I, 2/3 of the Utah Redneck Shooting Assoc went out to the west desert. Eric (PCRCCW) was the 1/3 absent from the trip. He missed out on a great time.

I know these aren't handguns, but the were fun too.
My SAR1. SAR3, and Bushmaster M4gery.

BIL and his wife picked up a big set of very ugly plates and dishes at a garage sale. The highlight of the trip was BIL and I drawing from concealment to see who could be the first to break the dish. We actually got pretty fast at it.
He was using his Springfield 1911, and I used my P-01. The P-01 came out on top more often than not. I feel like it was more so the gun as BIL outshoots me most of the time.

The other fun thing we did was put up a 6 foot tall cardboard cutout it is actually a tracing of BIL. We put it out about 25 yard and practiced "two to the chest, one to the head." We also practiced this by drawing from concealment. We used my CZ97 and P-01, BIL used his XD9 and Springfield 1911. The XD9 performed the best here.

It was a great day for the "Utah Redneck Shooters Assoc." Eric you missed out buddy. Oh well, more fun to be had next time.

This place we go is pretty trashed already. It is actually an old mining place where there are some foundations from old buildings. Alot of people shoot there. We took away more junk than we brought with us.
Always clean up a little where you shoot.

At least it looks like you guys had fun. You're right, that looks like it was pretty close to me.

Early in the a.m. is best for me too. Myself, I would like to leave here at about 7:30 or 8:00 and be shooting by 9:00.
I'll talk to Eric and BIL to see what they think.

That'd be pretty cool. When I go I will be wearing one of Correia's Molon Labe hats, but I don't always get to go. It's always cool to meet THR members in person, though.

Alright, alright, Eric. I'll be there. After all, who wants to go to work anyway? I bought about 400 rounds today (all WW had in stock)in anticipation, hopefully that will be enough.

So where exactly do you guys go? Do you go through Tooele (south), or do you go by where Magcorp is (west)?

Also, do you guys mind if I bring a friend? He's a good guy -- I'm nagging at him to buy a pistol, but he's resisting. Hopefully seeing a bunch of people all enjoying them will push him over the edge.

Does anyone have a 1911 that they'd be willing to let me try? I can pay you for ammo and whatnot.
