My next build is going to be a medium weight barreled .30-06. My builds in the past have all been "tacticool" but, I am in the process of ordering an M1 Garand so I am feeling a bit nostalgic. I was thinking it would be nice for my 110 to have a plain walnut stock to match the M1 and an old 870 police I have.

I have seen pictures of 110s in plain (no checkering) walnut stocks but I don't know where to find any to buy. Any suggestions as to where I might start looking. I you have one pictures are always welcome.

Pawn shops are great places to find them in the plain hardwood stocks. You can generally get them pretty cheap, too.

The plain uncheckered stocks are almost certainly cheap hardwood, not walnut. Walnut comes on the 114/14 series of guns. You often find takeoff stocks on e-bay, gun forum classified ads and places like gunbroker for dirt cheap.

If you want a decent wood stock without breaking the bank I'd consider something from www.boydsgunstocks.com

As mentioned, Boyds offers a nice walnut stock for about $120 and up depending on the options you choose.

You can also check Numerich gun parts. Their website often lacks a good description of pictures so it can be hard to tell exactly what you are getting. As jmr40 said, make sure you are getting a real walnut stock and not "walnut stained" hardwood. The recent change in Savage actions adds to the difficulty of finding the right stock. Know what you need and call them to see if they can verify what it is if necessary. I scored a very nice "classic" style walnut Savage stock for less than $70 a few years back.
