a friend's savage 110, the bolt is really sticky after firing and its frankly a little rough cycling with out firing.

i pulled the bolt apart and it looks like someone has already changed the cocking piece sleeve because its the newer looking design but i could be wrong it could be original.

are there any other parts that are suspect besides the sleeve? any help is appreciated

Check the head space and make sure it was set correctly. If too tight/close it will make the bolt difficult to operate. If you have a way to measure fired brass may give you a indication too.

thanks for the reply
the problem is the same loaded or empty.
would head space be an issue without a cartridge involved?

All depends on where the tolerances are between the bolt and barrel. If you know some one who reloads that caliber they may have a case gauge to check the brass. A set of case gauges would be quick check.

got it ironed out. cleaned lubed and checked all the screws. some of the screws were loose. it still has more drag that a remington, but its back to normal for this gun. i hear its par for the coarse with a savage
