Savage 110 - working the bolt seems stiff

Rifle in question - Savage 110 fixed mag in 30-06.

Problem - When working the bolt on the first motion "up" the action seems to "stiffen up" but it does not stick. The rounds cycle fine and the rifle works with no FTF's or FTE's.

I guess what I'm asking is, is stiff action normal on savage bolt guns and is there a way to smooth out the action?

Try putting some lube on the cocking cam & bolt lugs.
Grease is good.

The stiff opening indicates a dry cocking cam fighting to compress the firing pin spring.

I'm also guessing that this is a fairly new action. My advice is to to follow RCModel's recommendation on the grease and work the heck out of it.
