Yesterday I found a used Savage 110e in .308 for $250. It had a Bushnell 3 x 9 x 40 scope ($40 new) for an extra $20. It also included a sling, see through mounts and iron sights. The serial # is E3348XX. I put it on layaway for a total of $286 with the scope.

The stock had been re-finished and the saleman pointed out that they did a poor job. You could see streaks from the brush, little gobs, etc. It was kind of a redish colored stain. I'm thinking I'll need to remove the finish and re-do it.

It looks like it would make a good backup/lender deer rifle. I don't have a bolt .308, just two Saiga 16" barreled .308s. I cannot seem to find reference to other 110e .308 rifles which have sold on gunbroker, etc. Is this a good deal? I can always get the $50 that I put down on it back or in store credit.

sounds like it could be a good project if you have the time to work on it... probly gona want to replace the scope, and if it were me i would mostlikley just buy an aftermarket stock for it too.

Great deal. Now sell the scope, barrel and stock. Then you can buy a B&C stock, a good scope, and a Shilen pre-fit barrel in an interesting caliber and amaze people. Probably shoots good though like it is.

I would pass. That is an older long action in 308. You can get a new Stevens 308 in a short action for around $300. The new Marlins are selling for about the same price. Probably nothing wrong with the used one, but for just a few dollars more you can buy new.
