Savage 110e Magazine Problem

I am a newbie to rifles so please bear with me. I recently bought a Savage 110E and I am having problems with the magazine. When I load the rounds into it, the one on top does not protrude enough for it to be picked up by the bolt when closed. I dissasambled the rifle (blind magazine) and as far as I can tell it is assambled correctly. Any ideas?

Try taking the stock off and tapping the mag box up softly and see if that helps.
